Plans have been approved and construction is underway to build a 66-bed, three-storey care home at Shipley Lakeside Waystone’s mixed use development site located midway between Ilkeston and Heanor on the former American Adventure Theme Park. The developers described the care home as “contemporary and innovative” with “ambitious sustainability/renewable energy goals”, aiming to “facilitate a higher quality of life for residents than most conventionally designed facilities”. The care home will create 43 new jobs, and is scheduled to be complete and operational in 2025.
